Several current and former ICS students were recipients of MSSA’s Positive Youth Award in May 2016
Mecca Abdul Aziz (Class of 2014) earned her Associates Degree from Baltimore City Community College on June 4, 2016. Mecca graduated with Honors and was listed in Who’s Who Among Students.
Khayriyyah Garner (Class of 2012) debuted her modest women’s clothing line at the 15th Annual International Sister’s Network fashion show in Washington, DC
Mecca Abdul Aziz (Class of 2014) is the recipient of the Granville T. Woods Scholarship at Baltimore City Community College that pays all tuition, fees and textbooks and provides a laptop computer.
Students from the ICS have won first place in the International Qur’an Competition sponsored by the Islamic Society of North America.
Two former students were sponsored to a Hajj trip by the government of Saudi Arabia because of their class work at the IIASA in Fairfax, VA. One former student attended the University of Madinah for three years.
Students from the ICS have participated in the Maryland Gifted and Talented Program and the Maryland State Writers Project.They have won numerous awards and writing contests such as the one sponsored by Al-Jumuah Magazine, The Islamic Food and Nutrition council of America, and A Celebration of Young Poets, 2004 and 2012.
Since 1993, we have had 34 12th grade graduates, all of whom continued their education at universities, colleges, or trade schools. Six have received Associates Degrees, twelve have received Bachelors Degrees and three have received Masters Degrees.
Four of them recieved four-year scholarships, one recieved the Gates Millenium Scholarship; two graduated from their university’s Honors Program. Seventeen of our twenty-eight graduates attended the Islamic Community School from pre-school through twelfth grade.
